I have had this truck for almost 12 years and driven it over 100k miles. I love it and am sad to see it go, but it has engine issues of which I do not have the time to address. What does it have? Oil in the the coolant and vice versa. It does run, but I will not it start for obvious reasons. As soon as I saw steam in the exhaust, I had it towed home. It did not over heat.
Last fall, the 22re threw a timing chain, which caused a bent valve. I, in turn, went thru the truck top to bottom to ensure I could continue driving it to the 200k mile club, which of course didn't happen. (it now has 170K)
This what i had replaced with new:
-head, cam, valve train
-timing chain with NON plastic chain guides
-water pump
-starter
-fuel filter
-Clutch with press plate and t/o bearing
-plugs, cap, wires etc
-radiator
-front rotors, calipers and pads (I bought parts to do the rear brakes, but they turned out to be ok)
-muffler and exhaust
I stupidly used an aftermarket (ie cheap) gasket set and believe I now have a blown head gasket. I was also told I should have re-torqued the head after 5k miles, but I never heard of this, so I didn't.
The truck has a nice pioneer stereo with amp etc and a nice set of tires and rims. It has a header pipe, K&N filter and also has an ok cap. It has an add-a-leaf in the rear and tightened up torsion bars in the front to bring it up a bit. It has a cracked windshield and a ding in the drivers cab corner. It has a tiny rust bubble on the front fender and a fairly rusty tailgate. Also has a set of stock rims for it. Has all the usual blemishes that come with a truck of this age and mileage. I never "wheeled" it other than an occaisional fire road. These are all highway miles from my job commute.
